This old-fashioned favorite originated in France, prior to 1800. The vigorous tree is a heavy producer of fruit that stores well. 'Anjou' requires a pollinator for fruit production, and is often paired with 'Bartlett'. Pears are high in Vitamin C; however the skin is the most vitamin-rich part of the fruit and consequently should not be peeled.
