Populus deltoides - Eastern Cottonwood
Eastern Cottonwood, is a towering, fast-growing native tree known for its large triangular leaves and cottony seeds produced by female trees. Reaching heights over 30 meters, it thrives in full sun and moist soils, particularly along rivers and floodplains. Its shimmering foliage provides striking movement in the wind. Best suited for large spaces, erosion control, or naturalized areas, this hardy species (zones 2–9) supports wildlife but is not recommended near structures due to aggressive roots.
