Iris ensata ‘Pinkerton’ is an elegant Japanese iris with large, soft pink flowers accented by deeper pink veining and ruffled edges atop slender, upright foliage. Its blooms — among the largest in the iris family — typically appear in early summer and add dramatic vertical colour to perennial borders, cottage gardens, or water-edge plantings. Unlike tall bearded iris, Japanese irises have flat blooms and thrive with consistent moisture, making ‘Pinkerton’ excellent near ponds, rain gardens, or moist borders. It’s also valued for attracting bees and hummingbirds while being generally resistant to deer and rabbits.
