Beautiful, small deciduous shrub with showy deep purple buds opening to blue flowers in late spring. Blooms are extremely fragrant. Dark green foliage with a slightly reddish tint. Tougher and smaller than common lilac, an excellent choice for informal hedges, mixed into shrub borders, or in cottage gardens.
